Who We Are
Smartgive is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering children to navigate their lives toward a sustainable future. We deliver educational experiences that encourage children to engage with and act on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Founded by Yoko Kishi, who has extensive experience with international NGOs, Smartgive pre-activities have begun in 2019, and launched full-scale operations in Tokyo and Osaka in 2022. We collaborate with public schools, which are attended by 98.7% of children. Yoko’s passion is to foster young minds with a free and resilient spirit to embrace adventure and the unknown.

Why Classes Without Definitive Answers Matter
While mastering right answers in core subjects like math, science, and social studies is essential, it’s equally important to tackle challenges with open-ended questions. These challenges spark creative thinking and problem-solving, even if they lead to mistakes. Embracing these mistakes takes confidence and aspiration. This is exactly the kind of opportunity Smartgive aims to create in partnership with school teachers and local communities.
What We Do
next100
next100 is an initiative aimed at increasing partners committed to creating a better future 100 years from now. It unites companies, governments, organizations, and schools to work with children on achieving the SDGs.
In this initiative Smartgive provides collaborative classes and learning experiences, enabling participants to learn from each other and take concrete steps toward a sustainable future. Also in collaboration with primary and junior high schools, Smartgive delivers SDGs learning sessions, supports curriculum development aligned with these goals, and creates opportunities to inspire young minds.
CONNECT
With this initiative, we aim to enhance disaster preparedness and community well-being by fostering connections among residents. As urbanization progresses, people are becoming more disconnected. Even neighbors in the same building often don’t know each other, raising concerns about mutual aid in emergencies. We believe a well-being society is one where everyone feels safe and comfortable offering and receiving support. Therefore, we create opportunities for insights that benefit both community interaction and disaster preparedness.
What’s Next – Cross Cultural Exchanges
Smartgive facilitates cross-cultural exchanges between Japanese students and their peers worldwide. Through video calls, joint projects, and virtual classrooms, students can share perspectives, learn from each other, and collaborate on SDGs-related projects.

When tackling tasks without a clear right answer, you might sometimes fail as a result of thinking creatively and trying new approaches.
